Minutes from RANN Special Board Meetng Date – May 25, 2021
Called by: RANN President Shirley Johnson
Purpose of Meeting - Motion to accept or reject the Covid Guidelines and Waiver
that were sent to the Board last week
Minutes submitted by Sue Gilson for Christy Ravenscroft

Summary:

The special board meeting was called by Shirley Johnson to discuss and accept or reject the Covid Guidelines and Waiver that were recently approved by the Officers and sent to all members in a Blast. After the Blast was sent out, it came to Shirley’s attention that there should have been a full Board meeting to discuss and approve them first. The purpose of this meeting is to have that discussion.

At the beginning of the meeting, Shirley Johnson reviewed the following points:

The goal of the Covid Guidelines and Waiver is to keep members safe.

Per no cost discussion with a lawyer, it is not a HIPPA violation to ask to see proof of a covid vaccine.  Insurance coverage does not exist for any group for a lawsuit based on someone catching Covid at a group event. These types of lawsuits are being declined by courts in the US because it can’t be proven where someone caught Covid.

Per discussion with RANN’s insurance agent, RANN is covered if we are sued for issues relating to Covid that are other than someone becoming infected with Covid at a RANN event.

For this discussion, we will follow Robert’s Rules of Order

Discussion

1st Motion –Robert’s Rules of Order specify that during discussion, each person can debate their position 2 times for 10 minutes each time, a total of 20 minutes.

Before discussion started, Sue Gilson made a motion that for this meeting only RANN modify Robert’s Rules of Order so the debate period would be for 2 minutes at a time, a total of 4 minutes, to keep the meeting shorter. Maryellen Kordes seconded it.

During follow up discussion, Linda Lane requested to keep Robert’s Rules ‘as is’ by allowing each person 10 minutes for their first speaking session and 2 minutes for their 2nd speaking session.
2nd Motion to rescind the 1st Motion was made by Dianne Medaris and seconded by Kay Franks and approved by a majority of those present.

3rd Motion - Linda Lane made a proposal to follow Robert’s Rules by allowing each person 10 minutes for their first speaking session and 2 minutes for the 2nd speaking session. Maryellen Kordas seconded it and it was approved by a majority of those present.
